We had a booth at the South LA Earth Day. It was our first outreach event and it was amazing. We had two crafts at our booth, sewing birds out of old clothes scraps and making terrariums. We started the morning with 70 jars for people to paint and turn into terrariums, and we ran out by 2pm. An unexpected, but welcome surprise.
We also had surveys for people to fill out on what kind of classes they wanted to take. I can’t tell you how many surveys we got back with all the boxes checked. The number one comment we heard from people was “I can’t wait until you get a building.” and “there’s nothing like this here.”
All I know is, I can’t wait until we get a building either.
We will have an information and craft booth at the South LA Earth Day event Saturday April 17th, 11am-6pm. It should be a super cool event with music, dance, art, and other Earth Day radness. Come check it out. And if you want to help us by volunteering at our booth, send us an email here: hello(at)thecentersouthla.com
